EUfolio Teacher CPD
The EUfolio model of CPD used in in the Irish implementation was a involved three elements and was based on models of CPD identified by Kennedy (2000):
- Training
- Action Research
- Mentoring

Pilot Implementation LaunchThe launch of the EUfolio Pilot took place in the Digital Exchange in Dublin in December 2013.
Over 40 school leaders and teachers attended the launch. Presentations from the EUFolio team included:
At the end of the day a participant evaluation was conducted to further confirm and establish the various needs of the participating schools. |
Phase A CPD 2013-2014Phase A CPD involved the three elements of CPD outlined above. Two day-long training sessions were faciliated.
There were 3 interlinked workshops conducted on each day: 1. Digital skills and learning how to work within the specific portfolio platform. Key areas that were explored included creating class sites, creating profile pages, posting and responding in forums, generating feedback comments and uploading various types of media files. 2. Exploring formative assessment. The workshop explored the facets of formative feedback and how the digital portfolio could facilitate effective teacher and peer feedback and using the ePortfolio for self-reflection. 3. Focus on the subject area of English, and tasks developed by the EUFolio team as examples of a rich task that are enabled through using the ePortfolio. Mentors provided both face to face and online supports for the teachers throughout Phase A. |
Phase B CPD 2014-2015Phase B involved consolidating the training and action research from Phase A with dedicated mentor support. To provide more individualised
support mentors worked directly with their schools. The CPD plan for Phase B included:
Each teacher was in ongoing contact with their mentor throughout phase B. Teachers were encouraged to reflect on and share practice and mentors visited schools to meet with teachers and students during ePortfolio classes. |
